Black Wire Bulb Cage, Clamp On Lamp Guard
- SKU:
- bulbcage-blackwire-clamp
Add an authentic industrial look to any pendant or bare bulb lamp with these true-to-form wire lamp cages. Mimicking the style of mobile trouble lights of the industrial age, they are all metal construction, satin black powder coat finish, and feature a side hook so you can hang your light where you're working! Easily mount to almost any socket with the adjustable clamp. (Please read the notes below as to how these will fit for different size sockets)
These are the same exact cages as our popular "Brass Wire Bulb Cage", now available in 5 additional finishes! Polished Nickel, Antique Brass, Black, White, and Unfinished Steel
- Base clamp screws tight to grip the socket (note, the clamp is large to accommodate different size sockets, so for many sockets the clamp will not be extremely tight on the socket. This can be remedied by compressing the clamp more to give it a tighter fit, but in general, when using these cages on our vintage style sockets, it will more be for show and not a true protector of the bulb.)
- Top end opens to allow access to the bulb
- 5.5 inches long, 3.75 inches diameter
- Sturdy steel construction with a black painted finish

Sturdy and well made.
Wish they made this same design without the hook.
Reply from SHV: Thank you for the feedback, the hooks on these are actually quite easy to pry off if you choose, with a pair of pliers grab the hook near its weld point and bend back and forth a few times, it will usually pop off pretty easily. -
inexpensive industrial hip look to a simple hanging bulb light
I order 1 black cage to see if it would work for my freshly painted basement ceiling. This was perfect bulb covering and appropriate for basement. Love and bought 5 more! Easy to hang with my handy battery operated screw driver to tighten onto neck of light bulb holder from ceiling.

Wire Bulb Cage, Clamp on Lamp Guard
Items were delivered very quickly, and as advertised. These have adjustable collars which can also accommodate larger diameters, which is what I needed! Thanks!

wire bulb cage
When I mount the cage on the socket I can not tighten the screws tight enough to keep it from moving. The base of the cage should be just a little smaller. This happens with all your cages.
Reply: Thanks for the input Tom, and thanks for your repeated purchase of these cages over the years, we have some info in the listing about this, they are designed to fit a variety of different sockets, from brass to porcelain to plastic, all of which vary in diameter. The smallest of which is a brass shell socket, so these cages will be loosest on those. We recommend mounting to the larger retaining nut (instead of the smaller diameter neck) for a nice tight grip, or if you need to mount to the neck of a brass socket, add a little bit of gasket of sticky-back insulation material to take up some space and make the grip tighter. Otherwise, simply compress the clamp a little more by hand (before you tighten the screws), it will hold well enough for aesthetic purposes. -
